Vasyl Zhdankin was a Ukrainian singer and bandurist born on May 23, 1958, in Krasnodar Krai. He studied at the Kyiv Agricultural Academy and the Lviv Conservatory, graduating as a conductor in 1987. Zhdankin performed classical, church, and primarily folk music. He gained prominence after performing the anthem of independent Ukraine at the 'Chervona Ruta' festival in 1989. Sadly, he passed away on September 2, 2019, in a road accident near his home in Kremenets.
