Vazgen Ovyan, born on January 6, 1932, in Dashushen, Khocalu District, was an Armenian poet, prose writer, dramatist, and journalist. He became a member of the Union of Soviet Writers in 1960 and the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1961. His literary name is derived from the combination of his initials and the ending 'yan'. Ovyan passed away on February 23, 1987, in Stepanakert, Azerbaijan SSR, USSR.
