Venelin Mitev was a Bulgarian poet, translator, journalist, publisher, and Esperantist born on December 2, 1942, in Sofia. He graduated in Slavic and French philology and worked for the Bulgarian news agency BTA from 1967. Mitev served as the head of the BTA Moscow bureau and later as a correspondent for Belgium, France, and Switzerland. He was the editor of the popular Bulgarian weekly 'Паралели' from 1984 to 1993 and edited books for major publishers after retiring in 2012. He passed away on April 15, 2021, in Sofia.
