Veniamin Vladimirovich Simonov, also known as Archimandrite Philip, born on April 7, 1958, in Moscow, is a Soviet and Russian economist and historian. He is a leading expert in the history of national economy and economic thought in Russia, macroeconomic analysis, and international monetary and financial relations. A Doctor of Economic Sciences since 1994, he became a professor in 2001. Simonov has held various significant positions, including director of the auditing department in the Russian Federation Accounts Chamber and is an active member of the Russian Orthodox Church.
