Ventura Martínez Alonzo (1904-2000) was a renowned Mexican-born American musician, often regarded as the 'Queen of the Accordion'. She relocated to Texas as a child, where she developed her musical skills, primarily on the accordion and piano. After marriage, she and her husband formed the musical group Alonzo y Sus Rancheros, later renamed Alonzo y su Orquesta, recording many songs and performing across Texas. They opened the La Terraza ballroom, serving the Mexican community in Houston, and retired from performing in 1969. She was inducted into the Tejano R.O.O.T.S. Hall of Fame in 2002.
