Vernon Charles Gibson is a British scientist born on November 15, 1958. He served as Chief Scientific Adviser at the Ministry of Defence from 2012 to 2016 and was reappointed in May 2023. Gibson holds positions as a visiting professor at Imperial College London and the University of Oxford, and is an Honorary Professor at the University of Manchester. He delivered the Royal United Services Institute Prince Philip Lecture on Military Education in November 2023.
