He serves as the Winship Distinguished Research Professor at Emory University and visiting professor at the University of Stellenbosch. A prominent figure in Markan scholarship, Robbins developed socio-rhetorical criticism in New Testament studies. He earned degrees from Westmar College, United Theological Seminary, and the University of Chicago. He initiated the Emory Studies in Early Christianity series and was honored by a festschrift in 2003, highlighting his impact on New Testament rhetorical criticism.
