Veselin Nikiforov was a Bulgarian economist and corresponding member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Born on January 5, 1927, in Varshets, he graduated from the Karl Marx Higher Economic Institute in 1951. He worked at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, leading the section on reproduction and economic growth. Nikiforov served as deputy chairman of the State Planning Committee from 1966 to 1974, and as chairman of the Bulgarian National Bank from 1974 to 1984. He also held a role in the Council of Ministers and later chaired the Committee for Social Information between 1983 and 1987.
