Vester Richard 'Tennessee' Wright was an accomplished American Thoroughbred horse racing trainer known for his exceptional success, leading all U.S. trainers in wins four times. Hailing from Gallatin, Tennessee, he achieved significant victories, including the Florida Derby in 1953 and the Louisiana Derby in 1956. His standout horse, Roman Line, notably finished second in the Kentucky Derby and third in the Preakness Stakes. Tragically, Wright's career was cut short when he died at the age of 45 from a heart attack on July 24, 1966.
