Vicente Retegi Etxeberria (November 2, 1908 – May 23, 1944) was a Basque citizen who died in a Nazi concentration camp. Known also as Vicente Retegui Echeverría or Echevarría in Spanish, he fled compulsory military service in his youth. Retegi was one of around 250 Basque individuals arrested in Urruña and deported by the Nazis. His life was marked by his resistance to conscription and ultimately ended tragically in a concentration camp during World War II.
