Víctor García Hoz was the first Doctor of Pedagogy in Spanish universities. Born on March 30, 1911, in Campillo de Aranda, Burgos, he became a professor of Experimental and Differential Pedagogy at the University of Madrid in 1944. He directed the Institute of Pedagogy at the CSIC, founded and was honorary president of the Spanish Society of Pedagogy, and directed its journal, Bordón. Additionally, he led the Permanent Seminar on Personalized Education and was a member of the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences and one of the first supernumerary members of Opus Dei.
