Víctor Manuel González Romero is a Mexican chemical engineer and philosopher, born on April 5, 1956, in Etzatlán, Jalisco. He earned his PhD from the University of Minnesota and began his research career in 1981. He held various positions at the University of Guadalajara including Rector General until 2001. González was also Secretary of Planning for Jalisco's government, innovating governmental evaluation processes, and Secretary General of Government from December 2011 to February 2013. He is known for his contributions to materials science and education, having published over 150 articles and directed more than 60 theses.
