Victor Parsonnet is an American cardiac surgeon, born on August 29, 1924, who made significant contributions to cardiac pacemaking. He grew up in Newark, New Jersey, attended Cornell University, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II before studying medicine. Notably, he was the first in New Jersey to implant a permanent pacemaker and perform heart and kidney transplants. Parsonnet was also the Chief of Surgery at Beth Israel and co-founded the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology. He retired in 2016 and was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame in 2019.
