Raul-Victor Surdu-Soreanu was a Romanian politician and the first post-Communist Minister of Agriculture after the 1989 Revolution. Born in Iaşi on July 11, 1947, he began his career managing Romania's collective farm system during the Communist era. After joining the National Salvation Front, he served as Minister of Agriculture from 1989 to 1990 and was a member of the Chamber of Deputies for various parties until his death in 2011. He passed away from pancreatic cancer, leaving behind his wife and three children.
