Vijay Rangarajan is a British diplomat, born on 22 September 1969, who served as the British Ambassador to Brazil from June 2017 to August 2020. He is currently the Director General for Americas and Overseas Territories at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Rangarajan previously served as the Deputy British Ambassador to Mexico (2003-2006) and has worked with the UK's Ministry of Justice and Cabinet Office focusing on political reform. He earned a BA Hons. in 1990 and a PhD in Astrophysics in 1995.
