Viktor Dostal (February 4, 1924 – December 28, 2016) was an Austrian virologist known for his contributions to the development, production, and testing of the Salk poliomyelitis vaccine. He also played a significant role in the eradication of smallpox through the creation of a newly developed, temperature-stable, lyophilized vaccine as part of the WHO eradication program.
