A member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR since 1981 and the Union of Photographic Artists of Russia since 2006, he was a two-time laureate of the World Press Photo award in 1980 and 1982. He also contributed illustrations to the encyclopedia 'Arctic - My Home' and participated in over 100 exhibitions internationally.
