Virginia Thrasher is an American shooter born on February 28, 1997. She won a gold medal in the women's 10 meter air rifle event at the 2016 Summer Olympics, marking her first Olympic appearance and the first gold medal of the Rio Games. Thrasher claimed her victory against two previous Olympic medalists from China. Before focusing on shooting, she was a competitive figure skater and developed an interest in shooting following a family hunting trip when she was six years old.
