Virginia May Edwards, nee Wolfenden, was an American tennis player born on May 30, 1918, in San Francisco. She achieved notable success in her tennis career, including two wins at the Pacific Coast Championships and ranking as high as fifth nationally and tenth in the world. In the 1939 U.S. National Championships, she defeated the fourth-seeded Dorothy Bundy before losing to world number one Alice Marble. After her marriage to Frank Kovacs, she took time off and returned to win the Philadelphia tournament and Tri-State title in 1946.
