Vital José de Assis Dias was a Brazilian musician and public official, born on March 5, 1960, in Maranhão, and passed away from cancer on March 3, 2015, in Rio de Janeiro. He is best known as the first drummer of the rock band Os Paralamas do Sucesso from 1979 to 1981, after which he was replaced by João Barone. The band honored him with the song "Vital e Sua Moto" from their debut album. In the mid-1980s, he played in the heavy metal band Sadom, but later left music to focus on his public service career.
