Vitali Vitalievich Neff (February 2, 1984 – August 10, 2008) was a Russian military officer who served as a tank platoon commander in the 71st Guards Motor Rifle Regiment. He played a key role during the conflict in South Ossetia in August 2008, showing exceptional tactical skills in combat. Neff was severely wounded while rescuing his crew after their tank was attacked but continued to assist his injured subordinate. He was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation for his bravery.
