He is known for his work on Russian rock musicians and published the first book in the 'ZhZL' series about them. A fan of the band 'Kino', he researched the work of Viktor Tsoi and is considered a leading expert on the musician, with Evgeny Dodolev referring to him as the 'main Tsoi expert in the country'. Kalgin actively participates in public talks and open-air events dedicated to Kino.
