Vitaly Epifanovich Larichev (December 12, 1932 - June 2, 2014) was a Soviet and Russian archaeologist, anthropologist, and historian. He was a prominent specialist in the archaeology and history of the Jurchens and other ancient peoples of the Russian Far East and neighboring Manchuria and Mongolia. Larichev held a Doctor of Historical Sciences degree obtained in 1971 and was a member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences since 1992. Additionally, he was an accomplished science popularizer and authored youth books, including 'Journey to the Land of Eastern Foreigners' (1983).
