Vitaly Petukhov was a Russian Soviet writer, playwright, and journalist, born on February 9, 1954, in Bolshoy Sermananger, Mari Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, USSR. He was a prominent member of the Union of Soviet Writers from 1990 and the Union of Journalists of Russia. His contributions to literature earned him recognition, including the State Prize of the Mari El Republic in 1997 and the title of People's Writer of Mari El in 2013. Petukhov passed away on January 12, 2016, in Kuzhenersk.
