He served as a councilor of the Hradec Králové Region from 2000 to 2020, during which he was a deputy governor from 2000 to 2004, 2008 to 2012, and 2016 to 2020. He was the mayor of Třebechovice pod Orebem from 1990 to 2000 and is a member of the KDU-ČSL political party.
