He represented the Tallinn society 'Dvigatel' and was a member of the Soviet national team starting in 1969. Dubrovsky participated in three European Championships, where he won six gold medals and two silver medals. In 1970, he was awarded the title of Master of Sports of International Class, recognizing his achievements in competitive swimming.
