Vladimir Leonidovich Ivanov (December 8, 1932 – August 21, 2018) was a polar geologist and geophysicist known for his research in Arctic and Antarctic geology. He served as Deputy Director for Science from 1978 to 2001, and then as Chief Scientist at VNIIOkeangeologia. A Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, he was a distinguished scientist in Russia, contributing to the understanding of hydrocarbon potential in the Arctic and Antarctic shelves, leading to the discovery of significant hydrocarbon fields in the Barents and Kara Seas.
