He served as the Deputy Minister of the Coal Industry of the USSR in 1953 and was the rector of Kuzbass Polytechnic Institute from 1967 to 1977. Kozhevin was the chief of the Kemerovougol combine from 1947 to 1953, recognized as a Hero of Socialist Labor in 1948, earned a Candidate of Technical Sciences in 1961, and became a professor in 1963.
