Vladimir Lota (originally Vladimir Ivanovich Boyko) was a Russian scholar and historian of intelligence, primarily known as the historiographer of the GRU. He was a professor and doctor of historical sciences, awarded the state prize in literature. Lota authored numerous articles, popular science books, and documentaries focused on Soviet intelligence and its heroes, particularly during WWII. His work includes the sixth volume of the multi-part publication 'Great Patriotic War' and contributions to military history education. Lota was also a retired colonel and participated in various academic projects until his death in 2017.
