He played for clubs including Dinamo Vorónej, Dinamo Irkutsk, and CSKA Moscow, achieving several championships. After his playing career, he coached both the men's and women's Soviet teams from 1975 to 1987, achieving numerous victories and later held various leadership roles in volleyball organizations.
