Vladimir Škerlak was a Slovenian violinist and physician, born in 1940 and passed away in 2000. He studied violin under Leon Pfeifer at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, completing his postgraduate studies in 1963 with Igor Ozim. He also trained at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. Škerlak served as concertmaster for the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra from 1960 to 1961 and won first prize at the Siena International Violin Competition in 1966. Later, at age 37, he shifted careers to study medicine and worked as a physician while continuing to perform solo.
