Vladimir Nikolaevich Snegirev, born June 3, 1947, is a Soviet and Russian international journalist, writer, and military journalist. He has been a prominent figure in polar expeditions, organizing the first-ever ski journey to the North Pole in 1979 and connecting Eurasia and North America via the North Pole in 1988. He covered conflicts in Afghanistan, the North Caucasus, and other regions including Iraq and Syria. Snegirev has also worked on humanitarian missions to locate and free Soviet POWs and is a founding member of the Tourist Press Guild.
