Vladimir Vasilyov was a prominent Soviet and Russian ballet master, born on February 8, 1931, in Moscow. He co-directed the Kassatkina and Vassiliev Classical Ballet Theatre with his wife Natalia Kassatkina. A graduate of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography and GITIS, he created numerous choreographies for the Bolshoi Theatre and established various ballets, including 'Vanina Vanini' and 'The Rite of Spring.' He was honored as People's Artist of Russia in 1995 and passed away on August 24, 2017, in Moscow.
