Vladimir Zalipski was an Estonian Orthodox priest, born on January 18, 1926, in Tallinn, into a family of Russian white emigrants. He completed his education at a Russian high school in 1943. After serving in the German army during World War II and enduring imprisonment in a filtration camp, he studied independently for priesthood. Ordained as a deacon and then as a priest in 1956, he served multiple congregations until his death on February 23, 1997. Notably, composer Arvo Pärt dedicated a work to his memory.
