Initially serving in the royal army, he later switched sides to join the partizans. He held several significant positions within the communist government after the war, including Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Federal People's Assembly. Zečević was involved in various organizations supporting veterans and the working community until his death on October 26, 1970.
