Vlastimil Picek is a Czech soldier and politician, born on October 25, 1956, in Turnov. He holds the rank of army general in the Czech Republic's Army and served as Minister of Defense from 2013 to 2014 in the governments of Petr Nečas and Jiří Rusnoka. He was the Chief of the Military Office of the President from 2003 to 2007 and the Chief of the General Staff from 2007 to 2012. Additionally, he was the First Deputy Minister of Defense from September 2012 until March 2013. He became the mayor of Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav in 2014.
