Volodymyr Yurkevych was a Soviet musician born on December 2, 1912, in Lviv. He organized a bandura trio with Zinoviy Shtokalko and fought in the war with the 1st Ukrainian Division. After emigrating to the United States in 1950, he directed the New York School of Bandura and organized a Bandurist Capella. He performed in various ensembles throughout his career and left a legacy in Ukrainian music before his death on July 7, 1985.
