Lieutenant Colonel Vương Văn Đông was an officer in the Army of the Republic of Vietnam, known for leading a failed coup attempt against President Ngô Đình Diệm in 1960. Following the unsuccessful coup, he fled to Cambodia along with other conspirators using a commandeered C-47 aircraft. After escaping, Đông was permitted to live in France, where he settled quietly until his death. He was born on March 5, 1930, and passed away on April 21, 2018.
