He was a member of the Party of Regions and served as a People's Deputy of Ukraine from 2006 to 2019. Known for his role as the chief engineer of Motor Sich, a prominent airplane engine manufacturing company, he faced legal troubles when arrested for treason on October 22, 2022. Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Ukrainian government nationalized several of his key assets, including Motor Sich, in November 2022.
