W. David Sincoskie (1954–2010) was a notable American computer engineer recognized for significant contributions to networking technology. He was instrumental in installing the first Ethernet local area network at Bellcore and played a key role in the development of voice over IP technology. Sincoskie authored the inaugural local ATM specification and is credited with inventing the virtual local area network (VLAN), which has had a considerable impact on modern networking practices.
