Waldo McTavish Skillings was a prominent insurance agent and politician in British Columbia, serving in the Legislative Assembly as a Social Credit member from 1960 to 1972. He initially ran unsuccessfully for a Conservative seat in the 1941 provincial election. Born on September 9, 1906, in Port Elgin, Ontario, he was educated at Victoria College and the Victoria normal school. He was also an alderman in Victoria and held positions as government whip and Minister of Industrial Development, Trade and Commerce, but lost his reelection bid in 1972. He passed away on November 6, 1981.
