Waldemar 'Waldy' Nods was a financial-economic journalist born on November 17, 1929, in The Hague, Netherlands. He was the son of a Surinamese-Dutch couple who perished during World War II. Nods gained fame through the 2004 biography 'Sonny Boy' by Annejet van der Zijl, which depicted his parents' story and his own life. This biography was adapted into a film in 2011. In his later years, he was primarily known by the nickname Sonny Boy, which he received at birth.
