Wallace Earl Stegner (February 18, 1909 – April 13, 1993) was an American novelist, short story writer, historian, and environmental advocate. Often referred to as the 'dean of Western writers', Stegner won the Pulitzer Prize in 1972 and the American National Book Award in 1977. His works often reflect his deep connection to the American West and his commitment to preserving its environment.
