Wallace Francis Carter was an impactful Australian rules footballer and coach. He debuted with North Melbourne in 1929, winning the 1937 Syd Barker Medal. Carter served as the caretaker coach in 1940 before officially coaching from 1948 to 1953, leading them to a VFL Grand Final. He later had significant success coaching Williamstown, winning three consecutive premierships. He returned to North Melbourne coaching from 1958 to 1962, becoming the first coach to surpass 200 games. Carter was honored posthumously with multiple hall of fame inductions reflecting his contributions to Australian football.
