Walter Abrahão was a Brazilian sports announcer and politician, renowned as one of the most significant figures in Brazilian television sports commentary. Born on January 5, 1931, in Piraju, he graduated in Law in 1958 and began his career in the 1950s as a radio broadcaster. He gained fame as a sports commentator in the 1960s and 1970s, participated in six FIFA World Cup broadcasts, and is credited with inventing the sports replay. He served as a city councilor in São Paulo and held a position in the municipal accounts court until his retirement in 2001.
