Walter Charles Anderson CBE was a British trade union official born in Bootle on December 3, 1910. After qualifying as a solicitor at the University of Liverpool, he worked for Bootle Town Council and later as an assistant solicitor for NALGO. He played a key role in union negotiations during the NHS pay dispute in the late 1950s and led NALGO to affiliate with the TUC in 1965, raising its profile significantly. He was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1968 and retired from union posts in 1973, later contributing to various committees.
