Walter Ames Compton (April 22, 1911 – October 11, 1990) was an American medical doctor and pharmacy researcher known for his collection of Japanese swords. He served as the president of Miles Laboratories and was recognized by the Japanese government for returning several historical swords to Japan, earning him the 4th Class of Order of the Rising Sun. Compton was also an honorary member of The Society for Preservation of Japanese Art Swords. His contributions to both medicine and cultural preservation are notable aspects of his legacy.
