Walter Issac Devaram is a retired Indian Police Service officer born on July 20, 1939. He served as the Director General of Police for Tamil Nadu and is noted for effectively combating the Naxal threat. An accomplished officer, Devaram led joint operations to capture the notorious forest brigand Veerappan. He previously served in the Army and excelled in the IPS, ranking first in merit. Additionally, he was the vice chairman of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu and retired from service on July 31, 1997.
