Walter Henkels was a German journalist and author, born on February 9, 1906, in Höhscheid. He served as a journalist for 'Die Zeit' starting in 1946 and became the permanent Bonn correspondent for the 'Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung' from 1949 to 1977. In addition to his journalism career, Henkels was a co-founder and long-time board member of both the Bundespressekonferenz and the Deutscher Presseclub. He passed away on June 8, 1987, in Bonn.
