Walter Josef Meyer was a German politician born on June 8, 1938, in Bardenberg. He served as the district administrator (Landrat) of the Aachen district from 1989 to 1994, after starting his political career as a union secretary for ÖTV. He became a member of the Aachen district council in 1979 and was elected Landrat in 1989. After losing re-elections in 1994 and 1999, he remained active in various associations, notably as chairman of the Red Cross in Aachen. He passed away from heart failure on August 16, 2000.
